A new Chance

Wolf-life has returned to Olderdissen.
I never really mentioned it here on deviantArt, because I kinda had just felt too resigned about it and I didn't want to turn my gallery into a memorial ground. If you still remember, Olderdissen's formerly seven-headed pack had shrunken down to two during the last few years. Then Ronja was put to sleep in March 2015 and only Smilla was left. Well, the truth is: Smilla unsuspectedly died only 3 weeks later, in April 2015. She had been neutered in a vet clinic, but never woke from the anaesthesia.
That was a very very hard and unfortunate blow for Olderdissen. They had been so unlucky with the wolves: six dead in seven years, I was really a bit worried that they would abandon wolf housing altogether. But they took their time, turned to wolf specialists for advice, carefully considered and now - just a few days ago and more than half a year later - two new wolves have been introduced to Olderdissen.

And so: meet Rieke!
A very handsome young girl that was born 2014 in Zoo Osnabrück. From now on she will share her life with Aik, a male wolf that was born 2012 in Tierpark Gotha. The park hopes that these two will pair-bond over time and may start a new pack.

I'm quite excited (though worried, haha) what the future may bring for these two. I'm really happy that wolves are back in Olderdissen. I haven't really been there for almost two years, it's crazy.
