Above me by Khalliysgraphy Above me by Khalliysgraphy
Edersee has turned into my most visited park within the last half year, even though it is still 1:40h away from my home. I'm so in love with the wolves there and this beautiful girl is my favourite, right after the pups. It's pretty rare to see adult wolves that are still entirely black. And she's a wonderful poser.

I have asked for their names, but as I never got a proper answer ("Yeah, don't know ... but they all start with R and the pups don't have names.") I decided I would simply give them names myself. (Respectively I asked some of my friends for names.)
When I looked at this girl "Xelha" immediately came to my mind and stuck there. So she'll be Xelha for me from now on. Can't help myself. XD
(10 cookies for you if you know where this name comes from. Without looking it up of course.)

Oh she is absolutely stunning! There is a wolf, that I vist quiet often in a zoo not far from me, she's pure black but has still kept her blue eyes, which makes her look gorgeous. She also kinda looks like her too, but her ears are a little smaller and face a little more rounded. :3

I love the photo so much! Well done. :'D.

In some rare cases wolves keep a slight tinge of their baby blue eyes, I've also seen some of those. =) This one here for example. Though with a black wolf it must look even more awesome!

Thank you! =)

Wonderful photograph.
I do believe Xelha is of Mayan origin, a place located on modern day Mexico's coast. I would think it to be spelt Xel-Ha though. Not entirely sure on the definition, but it may have something to do with it's coastal location.
I have a cousin who went to Mexico. So pretty sure that's the place. ^^

Yeah, I found out about that when I typed the name into google, curious about what I would get. :XD: You find tons about that natural preserve called Xel-Ha. But still, that's not where I got this name from. It's hard to find, even with google. It is from a fantastic, but terribly unknown game. The character even got that name because it means "a spring of water" in Yukatek Mayan.

Die Kasselburger sind eine Ausnahme. :XD: Wirklich.

Danke. :3 Jap, die haben da alle wunderschöne Augen.

No coockies for me. :tears: but she's beautiful anyway :D so, do black adults lost part of the fur color while growing up? I didn't know it...

They do. =) They all start out deep black, but they won't stay like this forever. Most black wolves start getting white hairs on their muzzle when the coat changes from winter coat to summer coat for the first time. Some already start to get paler when they are still very young. And for some it'll take a bit longer. But it's very, very rare to see black wolves staying pure black over years.
You can see a bit of the progress here: [link]
